San Antonio is bracing for an influx of spring breakers. The city is advising visitors to use their noggins and prep ahead to avoid the frustration of traffic snarls and parking woes. With a host of festive events from March 8 through March 17.
City officials suggest taking alternate transport, like public transit, ride-hailing apps, biking, or simply hoofing it to navigate the teeming streets during these peak days. And for those committed to maneuvering their vehicles through the urban maze, mapping out a predefined parking target via Waze or Google Maps is a smart move. After all, no one likes circling blocks while everyone else is sipping their first margarita.
Parking in downtown San Antonio doesn't have to be a stress-inducing treasure hunt. The city is showcasing its parking riches, offering affordable and convenient spaces, particularly in the St. Mary’s Garage on 205 E. Travis St. and the City Tower Garage at 117 W. Commerce St., which are prime locations just a stone's throw from the hotspot that is the River Walk and Houston Street. Event rates will be kicking in from the evening of March 8 to March 17.
If you're a savvy spender, take advantage of the city's parking deals. Tuesdays are a downtown dream, with free parking from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. at all City-owned parking facilities, while City Tower Sundays offer no-cost parking on Sundays from 7 a.m. to midnight at—yes, you've guessed it—the City Tower Garage. Mark your calendars and save those dollars for more important things—like another round of nachos.
