Flames tore through a two-story apartment complex on Drescher Street early in the morning, resulting in a substantial blaze that has left four people without homes. According to a fact sheet released by the San Diego Fire Department (SDFD), the fire department was called to the scene at approximately 12:08 AM yesterday to combat an attic fire rapidly spreading through one of the building's units.

Despite the early hours, the residents could safely exit the building independently, miraculously avoiding injuries. The fast-acting SDFD crews worked to quickly to contain the fire, which was closed in just over two hours after it was first reported. The local Red Cross chapter provided immediate assistance to the displaced residents, ensuring that despite the upheaval, they were not left to fend for themselves.

While the cause of the fire has been ruled accidental, the financial toll stands staggeringly high, with an estimated property loss valued at $700,000. The detail by SDFD elaborates that the structural damage is calculated at $500,000, while the damage to the contents and adjacent units accounts for the remaining $200,000.

The incident required considerable resources, with a total of 32 personnel being assigned to manage the emergency. The response included five engines, two trucks, two battalion chiefs, one medic, and a supporting agency.
