
San Tan Valley has turned the page on its infrastructure woes with the launch of a new, high-tech EPCOR wastewater treatment plant, a far cry from the days when residents endured sewage in their streets, according to a Pinal County announcement. The Copper Basin Wastewater Plant, now being brought online, promises to remedy the long-standing issues that have plagued locals for years.
Local leader, Supervisor Mike Goodman, who has represented District 2 since his 2017 election, spearheaded the transition from the maligned Johnson Utilities system to EPCOR's management after residents suffered through subpar water service Goodman toured the new facility, which replaces the outdated Section 11 plant notorious for its foul odor and lagoon-styled operation that was inefficient and problematic for the community.
In a statement quoted by Pinal County, the supervisor expressed his satisfaction with the new plant's features and the improvements it brings: "We promised the people of San Tan Valley that we would raise the standard of their utility service, and the Copper Basin Wastewater Plant is the fulfillment of that promise." The state-of-the-art and odor-free facility is expected to mark a significant upgrade in the quality of life for area residents.
