Tennessee is poised for a significant economic boost as Schneider Electric gears up to expand its manufacturing operations in Middle Tennessee, a move that’s set to create 455 new jobs. Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter announced the plans, which include a new facility in Mt. Juliet and an expansion in Smyrna, with a combined investment of roughly $85 million.
According to a statement obtained by the Tennessee government website, the energy solutions provider is slated to create 355 jobs at the new Mt. Juliet site located on Maddox Road and 100 jobs at the Smyrna location. Overall, Schneider Electric’s expansion in Tennessee underscores the state’s appeal as a hub for technological advancement and manufacturing prowess.
“Tennessee's strong business climate and exceptional workforce attract companies like Schneider Electric, who already employs more than one thousand Tennesseans across our state. I am proud to announce Schneider Electric's latest expansion and appreciate their commitment to creating greater opportunity for the highly skilled workforce in Rutherford and Wilson counties,” Gov. Bill Lee was quoted saying.
Playing an integral role in the community, the Schneider Electric’s presence in Smyrna is expanding, reaffirming the region’s manufacturing sector’s growth. “I am excited about the expansion of Schneider Electric's plant in Smyrna, which will create more job opportunities in our area. This significant investment will bring 100 more jobs to our area and expand our strong manufacturing sector in Rutherford County,” Sen. Shane Reeves told the government website.
The Tennessee Valley Authority and Middle Tennessee Electric have expressed their support for Schneider Electric’s decision, emphasizing the beneficial impact on regional economy. “TVA and Middle Tennessee Electric congratulate Schneider Electric on its decision to create new job opportunities and investment in the Valley,” said John Bradley, TVA’s senior vice president of economic development. The company’s expansion is seen as a testament to Tennessee’s robust investment climate and the competitive advantage offered by its skilled workforce and business-friendly environment.
