In a collaborative effort, the city is teaming up with Maricopa County to host the What to Wear Career Fair at Scottsdale’s Vista del Camino Community Center. Scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, this hiring event isn't just about connecting with potential employers; it's also about looking the part, at no cost to the attendees.
Laid out like a pop-up boutique, the event will provide a selection of gently used professional clothing and accessories donated by community members. Sheila Williams, a Career Services Center Case Worker, highlighted the generous contributions, "We’ve gathered 2,500 pounds worth of items, so far, and we’re expecting more to come in before the event," as reported by the city of Scottsdale's news page. Alongside the attire, a limited quantity of personal protective equipment is available for those eyeing manual labor or technical positions.
The fair is expected to draw a diverse group of employers, including the likes of ABM Industries, Banner Health, and the Scottsdale Police Department. Echoing the practical side of the event, Williams also said, “This is a great event that pairs employers with local candidates and helps those candidates look professional for their interviews.” Ready to mingle and, possibly, score an immediate interview, job seekers are urged to come prepared for on-the-spot hiring possibilities.
