A second man has been taken into custody for his alleged role in a San Antonio drug deal that turned deadly last December. Jakob Kawazoe, 27, was arrested by U.S. Marshals at his residence on Friday, following an investigation into the shooting death of 20-year-old Juan Guerra.
Details from FOX San Antonio indicate that Kawazoe and Angus Ockels-Talbott, 32, who was apprehended earlier, are accused of plotting to rob Guerra during a late-night marijuana sale at Pearsall Park on December 14, 2023. The deal went south, and Guerra sustained multiple gunshot wounds including a fatal shot to the head, he, succumbed to his injuries the following day at University Hospital.
Further investigation unearthed phone records linking Kawazoe to the crime scene, with evidence suggesting a conspiracy to rob Guerra. According to the documents mentioned by FOX San Antonio, Kawazoe allegedly confessed post-arrest to the involvement he and Talbott had in the heinous act.
San Antonio Police, who earlier had nabbed the first suspect implicated in Guerra's murder, are now piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting. News 4 San Antonio reported the initial transaction was purported to be the sale of marijuana. However, it tragically escalated to violence when Kawazoe and Talbott, allegedly opened fire on Guerra.
