Five months after the tragic death of 16-year-old Preston Lord at a Queen Creek bash, the police have released horrific 911 calls and a detailed 1,162-page investigative report. The disclosed information paints a chilling picture of the night's events, which began with a petty theft and ended in a deadly brawl.
According to Fox 10 Phoenix, the evening spiraled out of control following the pilfering of an inexpensive necklace. More than a dozen 911 calls were placed as friends and bystanders desperately attempted to save Lord's life. “There's a bunch of certified lifeguards right now. We know how to do CPR," a caller informed the 911 dispatcher, despite their efforts proving to be in vain.
To date, seven individuals, ranging in age from 17 to 20, have been arrested and charged in connection with Lord's death; all have pled not guilty. The young men, Treston Billey, William Hines, Jacob Meisner, Talan Renner, Taylor Sherman, Dominic Turner, and Talyn Vigil, are now facing serious felony charges. Texts among the accused suggest a grim acknowledgment of the violence, with one text reading, "Talen killed someone with his hands," followed by, "Talen hit him once and he was, like, dead.", as reported by Fox 10 Phoenix.
Further chilling admissions were unearthed in the police report, with one of the suspects recounting, “I might have hospitalized that kid, I hit him pretty hard," as stated in an interview obtained by 12 News. A witness claims hearing another suspect, Hines, was "freaking out" after the incident, and Billey allegedly said, "I was the last person to kick him." The report also brought to light community fears about the so-called 'Gilbert Goons,' a local group rumored to be linked to the crime and known for terrorizing locals.
