A high-speed chase in the dead of night ended abruptly as police lost track of a stolen vehicle racing through Brooklyn Center into Brooklyn Park. Local officers first laid eyes on a black Kia sedan speeding without lights on Brooklyn Boulevard at around 3:32 A.M., on February 29, according to a statement obtained by tip411.
Authorities confirmed that a Kia caught on a high-speed dash was not just flouting safety, but was also listed as stolen. Brooklyn Park Officers, upon locating the rogue vehicle near Brooklyn Boulevard and Welcome Ave N, gave chase as it veered back towards Brooklyn Center. The pursuit was fleeting, as officers fell behind the rapidly vanishing car, deciding to call off the chase due to concerns for public safety.
The incident left law enforcement empty-handed as the stolen sedan slipped back into the night of Brooklyn Center. Officers aired their last sighting to local law enforcement in hopes of a later capture. As of now, details regarding the suspects and the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle remain limited. The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to canvas the area and review traffic surveillance for any leads that could bring them a step closer to resolving this midnight escapade.
The Brooklyn Center Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to the stolen Kia or the high-speed chase to come forward.
