Saturday's weather is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 58 degrees, accompanied by south-southwest winds blowing at a leisurely 5 to 15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph. Tonight, the city will see mostly clear skies, and the low-temperature hovers around 45 degrees, with persistent south winds that could reach gusts of up to 25 mph, as per forecast.weather.gov.
But viewers should take a note to be careful early Sunday morning. Patchy dense fog has reduced visibility in some areas to a mere quarter mile, though conditions are expected to improve after 9 a.m. The rest of Sunday will be mostly sunny and breezier, with gusts potentially hitting 35 mph and temperatures cruising up to a balmy 67 degrees. The warm trend continues into Monday, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and a high near 70 degrees, accompanied by more brisk south winds, the NWS reports.
Later in the week, temperatures are predicted to sharply drop, bringing back chilly weather and more rain. Tuesday will see highs around the mid-40s, with mostly sunny skies, but by Thursday, there's a chance of showers, and temperatures will be stubbornly set around the mid-40s during the day and 40 degrees in the evenings.
The Chicago area is not anticipating severe weather today, but come Sunday, residents should prepare for "elevated non-thunderstorm wind risk" and "elevated fire weather risk," while Monday sees a limited thunderstorm risk, according to the Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service early this morning.
On the waters of Lake Michigan, small craft should be wary; hazardous conditions are likely Sunday through Monday. The NWS advises mariners to stay alert to the changing conditions and exercise caution when navigating the lake during these days.
