Atlanta has a fresh face set to revamp the city's night-time economy. Mayor Andre Dickens has handpicked Kristin Edwards as Atlanta's first Manager of Nightlife and Culture. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, this new role has been created within the Office of Film, Entertainment, and Nightlife to strengthen connections with the nightlife industry and support its growth with resources and educational workshops.
Edwards, who's had her hands full orchestrating community events such as the "First Friday" events in her previous role as Director of Special Events and Facilities for the City of Winder, is ideally suited to ignite Atlanta's after-dark scene, Hoodline Atlanta reports. "Over the past few years, we have been able to foster better relationships between the City and Atlanta’s nightlife community, and we have seen some real results," Mayor Dickens was quoted, championing the headway made thus far.
Atlanta's nightlife is poised for an infusion of vibrancy with Edwards at the helm, equipped with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration. Her background includes coordinating events for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and serving as an Events Coordinator for the City of Duluth. This skill set is expected to translate well in her new position, starting March 28, fostering an even stronger bond between city officials and night owls who flock to the city's eclectic entertainment venues.
Edwards' strategies aren't just about keeping bars and clubs hopping. She's dedicated to providing substance along with the sizzle, aiming to educate those in the nightlife space through initiatives like the "Training Day" workshops which FOX 5 Atlanta highlights. "We look forward to Kristin joining the team and continuing to build on these relationships for a safe and flourishing nightlife scene,” Dickens said, in a nod to her expected positive impact.
