Grab your sneakers and sunscreen, Boca Raton runners are lacing up for a cause this Sunday. The 11th annual Run From The Rays 5K is set to take over the Spanish River Athletic Complex, with proceeds benefiting skin cancer prevention and treatment initiatives. Not just a 5K, the event also includes a 1 Mile Run/Walk, ensuring opportunities for participants of all ages and fitness levels to contribute to this charitable cause, according to the WPBF.

Starting bright and early, with the National Anthem at 6:45 a.m., the main event kicks off at 7 a.m. sharp. For those looking for a shorter distance, or perhaps wishing to warm up with a brisk stroll, the 1 Mile Run/Walk starts at 7:45 a.m. Athletic preparation aside, the race serves a greater purpose, donating 100% of funds raised to organizations such as Mermaid Mile Swim and The Pap Corps, as detailed by AARP's event listing.

As part of the logistical details shared, chip timing by Accuchip Timing will keep track of the athletes’ performance, and age group awards from 10 & under through 80+ will recognize speedy participants across the spectrum. The sweatiest of palms will clutch finisher medals and t-shirts, but only the first 500 registered and paid entrants are eligible. Post-race, awards will be up for grabs on the award stage, and any unclaimed prizes can be picked up at Runner's Edge following the event.
