Starting April 15, crews from the Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division will begin to aggressively clean, inspect, and conduct small repairs to protect the community from the aftermath of heavy rainfall. This initiative, set to wrap up by November 2024, marks the first chapter in a series aiming to fortify the local infrastructure against the elements, as per Broward County's announcement.
Motorists should prepare to adjust their routes as construction gets underway. The project will include cleaning efforts coupled with a high-tech videotape examination of the drainage system, which is primed to cause some disruptions. Peters Road will bear the brunt of the inconvenience, with one lane shutting down to traffic during the less chaotic hours of 9 AM to 4 PM. Thankfully, this necessary interruption is designed to always keep one lane open, aiming to minimize the impact on the daily commute as much as possible.
The county has emphasized that access to driveways, businesses, and pedestrian pathways will be maintained throughout the project's lifespan. In a move to softly steer commuters and walkers away from potential hazards, signs are set to pop up along principal thoroughfares, serving as gentle hints to stay vigilant while the improvements are in full swing.
