Authorities have detailed incidents where a male suspect has targeted businesses, confronting employees with a weapon or implying he is armed, and making off with cash, jewelry, and iPhones.
The robberies have taken place at varied times and locations including the 5000 block of South Western Avenue and the 4300 block of South Ashland Avenue, creating a climate of fear among those who earn their livelihood in these neighborhoods. Given the similarities in the method of operation and offender description provided by CPD, the sequence of crimes demonstrates a distressing pattern of targeted theft within a concentrated area; nevertheless, no arrests have been made as of the latest updates.
Described as a Black male, standing approximately 5'11" to 6'02" in height and weighing between 180 to 190 pounds, the suspect is believed to be between 35 to 45 years old and has been noted for wearing a black ski mask, a hooded sweatshirt, a light traffic vest, dark sweatpants, and blue jeans. As of yet, there is no information on the vehicle used during the commission of these crimes.
