A massive crane toppled onto a highway in a startling accident, crushing one vehicle and causing havoc for commuters on Monday morning. The incident occurred just before 11 a.m. on I-35 near Benton City Road, as FOX San Antonio reported.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene where a utility crane had collapsed onto the northbound lanes. The Texas Department of Transportation confirmed the mishap on its website. There have been no injuries reported thus far, according to officials at the scene. Eyewitnesses described a scene of confusion, as drivers were redirected onto feeder roads to circumvent the area of the crane strike.

The crane, which was described as a "utility crane" by KSAT, seemed to have lost its balance and thundered down onto the interstate, resulting in an immediate road closure. The authorities, responding with alacrity, advised motorists to take exit 141 to detour around the disruption.

The identity of the driver as well as what provoked the crane's collapse have not yet been divulged by the officials as of 11:20 a.m. Transguide officials have indicated that the clearing operations might span several hours before normalcy is restored on I-35 North.
