Davie residents, mark your calendars and cover your ears, because the Town Hall is about to get loud with fire alarm tests. Officials announced that on May 20 and May 21, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the alarms at the Town Hall complex at Pine Island Park, 8800 SW 36th Street, are set for a loud check-up.

The schedule kicks off on Monday, with Building D housing parks, recreation, and cultural arts going first, and the cacophony continues through Tuesday as Buildings A, B, C, and the HR Building get their turn. All these buildings, with various divisions including Building Division, Business Tax Receipt, Engineering Division, Utilities Customer Service, Budget and Finance, and Information Technology, plus more, are gearing up for their systems to shriek. But life and work must chug along—the town assures that operations and services will grind away uninterrupted despite the din, as per the Town of Davie press release. 

While the alarms screech, employees and townies will have full access to all the lobbies—if they can stand the noise—just remember it's all for a good cause. A telling flash of lights on building exteriors will assure folks the alarm blitz is a drill and not some harrowing emergency.
