On Tuesday morning, at approximately 2:40 AM, officers located Purper’s white 2016 Chevrolet Colorado truck abandoned at the entrance to Clevenger Canyon North Trail, off San Pasqual Valley Road. Despite extensive searches by the Escondido Police, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Team, and ASTREA air support, there's been no trace of William. The Police are seeking anyone with information or who might've seen Purper or his vehicle to come forward.

Sgt. Todd Gimenez is the point of contact for any tips related to Purper's disappearance, and he can be reached at (760) 839-4914. Alternatively, the police non-emergency line at (760) 839-4722 is also available. The case number to reference is 24003231.

In their public notice, the Escondido Police provided a physical description of Purper: a white male adult, standing 6’1”, weighing about 220 lbs., with gray hair and blue eyes. Last seen, he wore a black hooded sweatshirt, white sunglasses, and blue basketball shorts. Those who may have been in the area around the date of William's last known whereabouts or who have information on the truck found are encouraged to contact authorities. The truck is described as a four-door model with possibly distinguishing features that could aid in the ongoing investigation.
