Fort Lauderdale Set to Host Sky High Thrills with Thunderbirds at 2024 Air ShowSource: X/Visit Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale is prepping for some serious thrills in the sky as the 2024 Fort Lauderdale Air Show zooms back into town on May 11 and 12. A post from Broward County on X promises spectacular stunts above the beach, and prospective attendees can look forward to a lineup packed with top-notch military and civilian performers.

Lead by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds' precision team, whose F-16 Fighting Falcons will perform gravity-defying formations and solo jets will execute high-speed passes. On ground, viewers won't be allowed to set up chairs on A1A—which will be shut from Sunrise Boulevard to 19th Street—to catch the action. Instead, show center is down at Birch State Park, where the event kicks off at 11:45 a.m. and wraps by 3:00 p.m. on both days, according to CBS News Miami.

Following the Thunderbirds, the A-10 Thunderbolt II Demo Team and the Polaris Program's Ghost Squadron are set to dazzle audiences with their aerial capabilities. SOCOM's Para-Commandos, made up of elite special forces, will take to the skies for a parachute extravaganza, representing the full might of America's military prowess.

For those looking to get the best view, multiple ticketing options are available, starting with the Drop Zone at $35 a pop. Those seeking something a little swankier can spring for a Sand Box, offering a private beach area and other perks valued starting at $67.25. And for the high rollers, the Flight Line Club VIP area at $179 a head includes seats, lunch, and beverages—and yes, that parking is included.

For day-of logistics, essentials like beach chairs, sunglasses, and sunscreen are a must, but remember the city's no-smoking and no-pets policies for beachgoers. And when it comes to parking, you might snag a spot at the Galleria Mall on Sunrise Boulevard, no more than a half-mile trek from the sand.

Boat lovers can watch the show from their vessels, thanks to a Safety Zone set up by the Coast Guard. Don't miss the 2024 Fort Lauderdale Air Show it's going to be an amazing weekend whether you're on land or sea.
