A hero fallen tragically while lending aid. That's the legacy of Yanaisa Pulido, a 23-year-old EMT who was fatally struck after stopping to help victims of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95. The incident, which occurred early yesterday morning, took the life of the young woman noted for her dedication to saving others.

According to Hoodline, the chain of events unfolded when a driver lost control and crashed into a concrete median. The subsequent pileup involved a total of six vehicles and resulted in three additional injuries, including a seven-year-old boy. Amidst the wreckage on southbound I-95 near State Road 84, Pulido was struck and killed in a poignant twist of fate as she attempted to render aid.

Her spirit of service extended beyond the scene of the accident, reflected in her academic pursuit. WSVN reported that Pulido was honored posthumously this weekend when her family accepted a diploma on her behalf at Miami Dade College's commencement ceremony. The young hero was completing a degree in homeland security at the time of her passing.

Remembered warmly by those she touched, Pulido had previously completed the Hialeah Fire Cadet program in 2019 and was working as an EMT with Miami Dade Ambulance while furthering her education. "Everyone who met her was a better person for it," a family friend, Dayami Apaulaza, recounted in a GoFundMe page set up to cover funeral expenses.
