A suspected member of the Sinaloa cartel is now behind bars, accused of committing an execution-style murder at a Miami Springs hotel back in November 2022. According to Local 10 News, 36-year-old Jimmy Sanchez was apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the U.S.-Mexico border and transferred to Miami-Dade County to face charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Details from an arrest warrant detailed by NBC Miami reveal that Sanchez is said to have flown into Miami on the night of the murder, where he met up with Tsvia Kol, who the police described as a known high-ranking cartel member with a specialization in drug trafficking and money laundering, and then following the meeting things unfolded in a rapid succession that led to shots being fired and a call for urgent help being cut short.

The slaying took place at the Aladdin Hotel, located just a stone's throw away from the Miami International Airport where Julio Gonzalez, a 46-year-old man from Hialeah Gardens, was found shot dead in room 304. In a distressing twist, Gonzalez had made an eerie predictive social media post with a photo of Kol, captioning, "If something happens to me, it’s her," according to an interview with his ex-partner obtained by NBC Miami This followed an incident two weeks prior when authorities intercepted 11 pounds of crystal meth intended for Gonzalez's residence.

Despite a call made by Gonzalez to 911 where he pleaded "Yes, urgent" before a call drop, a struggle, and the sounds of gunfire, police who arrived at the hotel some 13 minutes later could not find the disturbance, the morning after which came the hotel manager's ghastly discovery reported back in an autopsy that Gonzalez had died from multiple gunshot wounds, homicide the unequivocal verdict, as stated in the arrest warrant shared by Local 10 News.

While Sanchez is currently held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, the whereabouts of Tsvia Kol have not been disclosed by authorities, with another accomplice referred to as "Torres" still at large and evading capture, complicating the ongoing investigation into the underworld's grasp on tragedy and vice.
