Thieves hit a home run at a Mt. Juliet sporting goods store, swiping 13 baseball bats valued at nearly $6K, police are now working to catch. The heist, which occurred on March 14 at Academy Sports on Pleasant Grove Road, involved a man and a woman caught on camera with a baby stroller in tow. Officials hope someone will soon recognize the pair and step up to the plate with information.
According to WKRN, surveillance footage shows the suspects in the act, with the woman in a white Nike shirt and the man in a striped shirt, both pushing strollers. The Mt. Juliet Police Department is eagerly calling on the public to help with their search and has encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
Detailed descriptions provided by the Mt. Juliet police depict the female as white with dark hair, dressed in what could be considered workout attire, and the male as white also with dark hair, garbed in a multi-colored shirt. These individuals were not alone—children appear to have been present during the theft as the man was seen pushing an Academy shopping cart with two small occupants.
While the suspects remain at large, local shop owners may need to step up their security game to avoid being similarly targeted. The MJPD has taken to social media to spread the word, and their plea for assistance echoes across WZTV and WSMV broadcasts. Anyone with insights into this foul play is encouraged to contact the police at (615) 754-2550.
