A Nashville woman is facing criminal homicide charges after police say she shot and killed her own brother during a dispute about money. The deadly confrontation between Monica Wilson, 38, and Michael Wilson, 40, unfolded in East Nashville on Sunday afternoon, as per reports from the Metro Nashville Police Department shared by WSMV.

The argument, which took a turn for the worst, ended when Monica allegedly shot Michael in the head at approximately 4 p.m. outside a relative's townhome on Levy Lane. According to FOX17, the 38-year-old woman remained at the scene and was detained by arriving officers. Her brother was quickly transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

In a subsequent police interview detailed by WATE, Monica Wilson explained that the fatal altercation stemmed from "an outstanding personal debt with her," indicating that Michael owed her money. The confrontation escalated from verbal to physical before she admitted to drawing a handgun and firing at her brother.

The investigation also disclosed that there was no evidence of Michael being armed during the dispute.
