With summer on the horizon, parents are scrambling to secure spots for their kids in swim lessons and summer camps. Das Rec and Landa Park Aquatics Complex are the go-tos this season, offering a range of programs for tykes as young as six months to adults who are just looking to dip their toes into the world of swimming.

New Braunfels' Das Rec is kicking off a series of group swim lessons structured for various age groups, with eight sessions priced at $60. The lessons, catering to children from half a year to 12 years old, will have their first splash on June 3, ending on June 13. Following sessions will continue through July and early August. For a more tailored experience, or for those not keen on group dynamics, Das Rec is also offering private sessions. These one-on-one lessons, aimed at kids aged 3-12 years, are set at $100 for four 30-minute sessions, with adult classes available upon request, according to the City of New Braunfels website.

Not to be outdone, the Landa Park Aquatics Complex has their own program serving swimmers of all ages. For the same price of $60, participants can enroll in eight group lessons, with the first session diving in from June 4 to 14. If one-on-one instruction is more up your alley, private lessons at the complex are available at various times throughout the day, Tuesday through Friday, and will set you back $100 for four sessions.

Spaces are limited, and given the allure of learning the backstroke under the Texas sun, early registration is recommended. As the thermometer climbs, New Braunfels' pools are about to become, the city's hotspots, figuratively speaking.
