Mayor Kate Gallego expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Our libraries provide crucial support and assistance that improves the quality of life in Phoenix, and our brand-new Bookmobile is another great tool we'll use to meet and serve residents where they are," according to the phoenix.gov. The Bookmobile is not just a vehicle stocked with books—it's a gateway to an array of library services including Storytime programs and S.T.E.M. activities. To ensure residents can enjoy library amenities directly where they live and work, the vehicle comes equipped with an accessible lift for ADA access and a 20-foot retractable awning for comfort during outdoor activities.
