The Broward Sheriff’s Office has launched a search for Ahmed Gilbert, a 45-year-old man reported missing in Pompano Beach since Monday morning. According to a statement obtained by Local 10, Gilbert was last seen at approximately 10 a.m. near 2510 NE Third Avenue. Described as standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing roughly 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, he was wearing a gray shirt and black pants when he disappeared.

Gerdy St. Louis, a spokeswoman for the BSO, disclosed that Gilbert's relatives have expressed concern due to his autism and other mental health challenges that require medication. "He is autistic and suffers from the mental illnesses that require medication," St. Louis told Local 10. The urgency to find Gilbert is heightened by his medical needs, as he may be in distress without his medications.

Efforts to locate Gilbert are ongoing, with the BSO Missing Persons Unit at the helm. In an additional report by WSVN, the authorities are appealing to the public for any information that might lead to Gilbert's safe return. Detective Chris Blankenship has been assigned to the case and can be reached at 954-321-4268 for any leads or information. The BSO also offers a non-emergency contact number at 954-764-HELP (4357) for those who can provide assistance in the search.

The community's help is vital in instances such as these, where every second could be crucial. BSO encourages anyone who may have seen Gilbert or has any information regarding his whereabouts to come forward. "Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call BSO Detective Chris Blankenship," St. Louis reiterated in an appeal for community support. The hope is that with widespread awareness, Gilbert will be found and reunited with his family promptly.
