The skies over San Antonio are gearing up for a spectacle as the Great Texas Airshow makes its highly anticipated return to Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph this weekend, with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds slated to headline the aerial showcase, as reported by KSAT.

This free event, open to the public and suitable for families, will begin at 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday featuring a variety of acts, including Wings of Blue, Kirby Chambliss Aerobatics, and the C-17 Globemaster Airshow attendees will witness more than two dozen performances including high-speed jets, precision flying teams and historical aircraft with the Thunderbird's adrenaline-pumping performance scheduled for 3 p.m. on both days according to KSAT.

More than just an airshow, the event offers a variety of family-friendly attractions, such as displays, a kids' area, and a military working dog show, not to mention vendors to explore between performances, as per KSAT.

Parking will be available albeit limited; the event organizers at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph recommend visitors make use of the VIA Park & Ride service, costing a mere $2.60 for a roundtrip can ferry guests from the Randolph Transit Center directly to the base, with ADA-equipped shuttles on hand to transport from the parking areas to the airshow grounds with further event details including a complete schedule and list of displays can be found on the event's website.

Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs and utilize the available water stations by bringing reusable water bottles; however, food and beverages from home are prohibited, except for baby necessities. Other visitor advice includes packing earplugs to comfortably enjoy the roaring engines, but leaving umbrellas and camera bags at home, as highlighted by WOAI.
