Armed 20-year-old Everett man was collared by Boston's Youth Violence Strike Force, police said. The suspect, identified as Kqualeke Simplisse, faced firearms charges after a routine traffic stop turned into a chase on Harvard Street in Dorchester.
Police on patrol noticed a car without a valid inspection sticker around 8:01 PM yesterday and initiated the stop. However, the stop escalated when cops unearthed a Taurus G2S pistol, equipped with a round in its chamber and five more in the magazine, inside the vehicle. Upon the firearm’s discovery, the suspect tried to make a break for it, as reported by the Boston Police. Officers managed to nip the attempt in the bud and slapped cuffs on Simplisse.
The driver of the vehicle was let go from the scene, while Simplisse now faces charges for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. According to the official police report, the arraignment is slated to take place in Dorchester District Court.
