A disturbing incident in Broward County has led to the arrest of a 60-year-old man after law enforcement officials said he committed a sexual assault against a minor. According to an Local 10 report, John Shrock, of Oakland Park, is accused of seizing a minor's testicles before exposing himself in an obscene display. The Broward County Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding the alleged assault on Sunday.
The victim, whose name and exact age have been withheld, reported that the incident occurred outside of Shrock's apartment. Shrock was approached by the minor last Thursday while outside with his dog, when the victim inquired about walking the dog, and, after noticing Shrock's electric scooter, asked if he could have it as a gift, Local 10 detailed. The report from See Spot Run noted that Shrock declined, citing the $500 he had paid for the scooter.
The situation escalated on Sunday when the victim, accompanied by a friend, returned and asked Shrock if he could purchase the scooter for $50. Shrock responded not with words, but by grabbing and squeezing the minor's testicles through his clothing. In a disturbing turn, "What are you doing?," the victim pleaded, to which Shrock carried on by winking, unbuckling his pants, and exposing his genitals, the minor recounted to Local 10.
As asserted by the victim, even as Shrock stood exposed, he beckoned, "come inside." In a state of fright and bewilderment, the boy averted his gaze, began to cry, and fled. Upon reaching home, the young victim confided in his father, prompting immediate contact with authorities, as reflected in both reports. Following his arrest, Shrock maintained his innocence and asked for legal counsel, See Spot Run conveyed. He faces charges including the promotion of sexual activity on a victim younger than 16, indecent exposure, and lewd and lascivious behavior on a minor, and is currently detained with bond set at $125,000.
