A 35-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a brutal attack on an 11-year-old girl, Chicago authorities said Thursday. Alexis Davila from the 2600 block of W. 71st St. in Chicago stands accused of one count of felony aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a child younger than 13, a crime that dates back to September last year.
According to the Chicago Police Department, Davila was arrested on May 29, 2024, by the joint efforts of the local police and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. The arrest place, coincidentally, was the same block where Davila resides. Officials say that it was Davila who, on September 17, 2023, battered a little girl in the 1900 block of S. Spaulding, an incident that now sees Davila facing serious charges.
Davila had her detention hearing on May 31, held at the county courthouse at 2600 S. California. The specific details of the battery, including the nature and extent of the injuries inflicted upon the 11-year-old, have not been disclosed by the authorities.
The case has drawn attention to the broader issues of violence against children in Chicago neighborhoods. Local community leaders vocalize concern over the incident, stressing the need for increased safety measures for the city’s youth. However, regarding the current case, police officials have yet to release any further information, mentioning that the investigation is ongoing and that no additional information is available at this time.
