Big news for District 3 as Councilmember Phyllis Viagran trumpeted some major community victories in the City Council A Session. Among the wins, Viagran celebrated the green light given to the construction of Highland Park and Bellaire Park, part of last year's 2022 Bond Program. "We look forward to beginning the construction this summer," Viagran said in a statement obtained by sa.gov. She underscored the inclusive purpose behind the playground designs, "Playgrounds should be designed for children of all abilities to play, learn and grow. It will be a great space for families to enjoy."
Never standing still, San Antonio International Airport has struck a chord with American Airlines to establish direct flights to Washington D.C. This partnership, champed at in the community, could open new doors for commerce and tourism. "Our city working in partnership with American Airlines for direct flights to Washington D.C will be a step forward for our tourist industry," announced the Councilmember, whether travelers are hitting town for business or kicking back.
In a nod to the city's guardians, the San Antonio Police Department was honored during National Police Week, running from May 12 through May 18. "It was an honor to recognize the law enforcement in our community," the Councilmember told sa.gov. "Public safety is top priority for our city." Viagran put emphasis on supporting the Police Officers who put their lives on the line daily.
