Residents of Escondido are on high alert after a series of disturbing incidents where a man allegedly exposed himself to several women. The Escondido Police Department has issued a Public Awareness-Safety Bulletin detailing reports from the week of May 5 through 11, where a male in his vehicle targeted women with lewd behavior.

Described as a heavyset white or Hispanic male with a round face and facial hair, the suspect reportedly drove an older gray or black Volvo station wagon near the 2400 block of South Escondido Blvd. and Cranston Drive. He approached unsuspecting women, making offensive remarks before revealing his lewd acts. Authorities suspect that there may be additional victims of these indecent exposures.

Escondido Police have issued a warning, particularly to women walking alone or returning to parked cars, noting that the predator uses the ruse of asking a question to draw victims closer to his disgraceful displays. They urge the public to remain vigilant and cautious when engaging with strangers calling out to them, especially children and young women.

If witnessing such an act, the department advises not to confront the offender. "If a lewd act is witnessed, do not confront the suspect. Instead, immediately contact the Escondido Police Department and report details of the crime," the Bulletin alerted. Anyone with information or who may have been a victim is encouraged to contact Officer Martin Mohammed at 760-839-4442 to aid the ongoing investigation.
