A woman was left dead yesterday in Golden Glades, Miami-Dade, after being struck in a hit-and-run incident. The tragedy occurred around 5:25 a.m., when officers discovered the victim on the pavement. Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for Miami-Dade Police Department, stated that the woman was attempting to cross the street at Northeast Sixth Avenue and 149th Street when she was hit by an unidentified vehicle which quickly fled the scene, as reported by Local 10 News.

The driver involved failed to stop or even immediately call 911, allowing no chance for rescue efforts, Rodriguez highlighted. Witnesses at the scene, including Abel St-Surin and his cousin Oliver, who were setting up a t-shirt stand nearby, expressed their shock and horror at the grim sight. "That was very shocking to my mind," Oliver told CBS News Miami. They watched as first responders tried, in vain, to offer assistance to the unresponsive woman.

Neighbors reacted with grief and dismay. Jama Etienne, a neighbor, could hardly comprehend the callousness of the act. “Very upset. I hope the guy gets caught, he or she should be caught and going to jail, go to jail,” Etienne said to WSVN. As evidence markers and police tape cordoned off the area, a community grappled with the reality of such abrupt loss and senseless transgression against one of their own.

Police have yet to release the name of the woman, and they continue to pursue leads to locate the vehicle and driver involved. There are unconfirmed reports of authorities seeking a burgundy Jeep Liberty in relation to the fatal crash. In the meantime, Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is appealing for anyone with information to come forward, promising anonymity and a reward up to $5,000 for tips leading to an arrest. Those tips can be submitted by calling 305-471-TIPS, the organization urged.
