A family in Hollywood, Florida, is engulfed in tragedy after a domestic shooting left a 15-year-old boy brain dead and his older brother hospitalized. The suspect, their uncle Tony Wierzba, who also resided with them, took his own life following the altercation. According to a report by 7News, the shooting occurred on Thursday afternoon on the 5800 block of McKinley Street, a date painfully coinciding with the anniversary of the death of the boys' father, who was murdered 14 years ago.

As the community struggles to make sense of the shocking events, the family has decided to donate the organs of the younger victim, Alex Weirzba, as a means to save others. "Alex was considered brain dead, and we are going to donate his organs to save other people, because that’s what he would have wanted," Destiny Weirzba, the sister of the victims, told 7News. Meanwhile, the older brother, Richard Weirzba, is being treated for an eye injury at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and is expected to recover.

Details surrounding the motive are still unclear, though the sister recounted the last interaction with her uncle. "I knew [my uncle] did bad stuff in the past, but I never thought he was capable of murder, especially of my brother," Destiny Weirzba said in a statement obtained by 7News. The argument that led to the shooting, as per her older brother's account, was over something as trivial as cat litter. Tragically, the altercation culminated in Tony Wierzba shooting his nephews before turning the gun on himself.
