Authorities estimate the destruction occurred overnight between May 8 and May 9, with damaged headstones costing around $15,000 in total, according to reports by WAFF.
Not limited to a single act of callousness, the same department apprehended Terry Joe Johnson on charges related to theft of flower arrangements from Kelso Cemetery—a crime also believed to be part of a larger series of thefts from neighboring burial grounds. "Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department believes more people are involved in these thefts", the local authority announced, clarifying the scope of misdeeds that have shaken the community to its core, as WSMV disclosed.
