A disturbing scene of animal cruelty has rattled Miami-Dade County after a graphic video surfaced online showing a man punching a dog multiple times. The incident, recorded and posted by WSVN, depicts the man holding the dog by its collar and striking it with force on a Homestead street.

The video has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for justice emanating across social media platforms and from disturbed residents. While holding the animal by the leash on 288th Street, the thrashing left the dog cowering as per the distressing footage. Urgent Dogs of Miami and other animal rights groups have appealed to the public to assist in identifying the assailant, and to allow law enforcement to handle the situation.

Homestead police, backing the Miami-Dade Police Department's commitment, added in a statement obtained by NBC6 that the content of the video was "deeply disturbing" and assured the community that animal abuse claims are taken with utmost gravity. "We understand that the content of this video is deeply disturbing and has caused significant concern within our community and beyond," the statement read. "We are committed to supporting the Miami-Dade Police Department in any way necessary."

The Miami-Dade Police Department, after being tipped off on Sunday, has initiated an investigation into the incident. However, the alleged abuser's identity still remains uncovered, with no arrests having been made till Monday afternoon. "The fact that this person thought it was OK, in broad daylight, to be pounding a dog with fists tells you a lot about animal welfare in our community," she said.

Frustrated neighbors near the incident have expressed their horror and disapproval. "Wow, that happened just right here, that’s not right," neighbor Fernando Zamora told NBC6. Another local resident, identified as Jean, added, "They don’t deserve that," referring to the mistreated animals.
