A 2024 Miami-Dade County lawsuit filed by Debra Kent, who does business as MightyChic, names Eric Mavachev, who does business as Mavani & Co. and Mavani Miami, LLC, along with R.D. William Whittington, Time Piece Trading, LLC and Neelesh Alwani. The Trellis case listing classifies the matter as a collections-creditor case. The New York Post reports that Kent is seeking $13.8 million in damages.
The allegations described in the complaint have not been independently established here. According to the New York Post’s account of the filing, Kent alleges that Whittington sought roughly $5 million in merchandise while she was recovering from an illness that had led to a medically induced coma. The complaint, as described by the Post, says Whittington told her a wire transfer would cover the purchase.
The Post reports that the complaint alleges Whittington transferred about 23 Hermès bags, valued at roughly $1.5 million, to Mavani because he owed the jeweler money. It says the filing characterizes the payments as far below the goods’ value and alleges Mavani later resold some of the bags. The Post also reports that Mavani denied wrongdoing to Kent’s lawyers and presented himself as a legitimate buyer; the complaint, in turn, alleges he knew more about the transactions than he acknowledged.
The Post reported that attorneys for Kent, Whittington and Mavani did not respond to its requests for comment. The available Trellis listing confirms the case information but does not establish whether the lawsuit remains pending, was settled or was otherwise resolved. No criminal charges or arrest records tied to the alleged scheme were made available for this story.
