A convicted felon from Nashville has been swiftly apprehended following his alleged involvement in a deadly exchange of gunfire this past Sunday. According to local authorities, Calvin W. Kinzer, 45, was detained on a parole violation warrant while he was found at a Lebanon Pike convenience market.
Specialized Investigations Division TITANS detectives located Kinzer, who was reportedly armed at the time of his arrest, with one weapon on his person and an additional firearm in his vehicle. The arrest comes in the wake of a fatal incident in Nashville's Napier community, where an individual yet to be identified by officials was shot near Lewis and Winfrey Streets.
In a report by Metro Nashville Police Department, Kinzer admitted during his interrogation with Homicide Unit detectives that he fired his gun in purported self-defense and in the protection of others after the now-deceased man supposedly shot first. The gun of the man who was killed in the confrontation was recovered by police at the scene on Sunday afternoon.
Nashville PD stated that Kinzer will face the consequences of violating his parole, along with new allegations concerning illegal gun possession due to his felon status. The investigation into the specifics of the fatal shooting is ongoing and intends to fiercely tackle with the District Attorney’s Office upon its ultimate completion.
