Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, are now in police custody on carjacking charges following a dramatic takedown by Nashville police Wednesday night. The suspects were arrested after a stolen GMC Terrain they were spotted in was tracked and intercepted on Channing Drive, as reported by the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department.

An MNPD helicopter played a key role in the pursuit by following the SUV, which had been reportedly carjacked at gunpoint from a parking lot at 714 Due West Avenue, according to the official police website. After the chopper noticed the suspects swapping into a Kia, officers on the ground made their move. The vehicle was later halted at the intersection of Due West Avenue and Dickerson Pike, and the occupants were apprehended.

All five individuals in the Kia were detained, but after questioning, only the two teens were charged. “The other three occupants were interviewed and released, " the MNPD reports. The diligence of multiple units, including the canine team, contributed to the swift resolution of this incident.

The two youngsters now face charges in Juvenile Court over the carjacking.
