Early Tuesday morning, a shooting in Antioch left one man hospitalized and police searching for answers. Around 3:30 a.m., gunshots rang out in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Mountainhigh Drive, sending one victim to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, FOX 17 News reported. As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody.
A separate incident on Saturday morning on Packard Drive also resulted in one person shot and taken to Vanderbilt; the suspect is acquainted with the victim, according to WSMV. Police continue to investigate the motive behind the shooting.
In a related event, a man fired an AR-15 at what he believed to be potential suspects looking into vehicles, the WKRN said. After confronting two individuals in the parking lot, he shot one in the leg. Four vehicles, including the shooter's, were damaged during the incident.
The AR-15 used in the shooting has been seized by officers as evidence, police have not yet disclosed whether charges will be filed against the shooter, according to WKRN. The shootings have stirred ongoing concern in the community about gun violence and safety in public spaces.
