A second suspect has been cuffed in connection with a stickup in Randolph, police reported last week. Cops say Anthony Beato, a 20-year-old Malden man, got arrested Friday after an armed robbery that turned a quiet street into the scene of a chase.
Beato is accused of being half of a duo that held up a person at gunpoint while aboard a vehicle on the suburban street of Johnson Drive, NBC Boston reported. The incident sent chills through the neighborhood, causing one resident to witness a car tear through his lawn abruptly terminating at his property.
Following the incident, Randolph Police nabbed the first suspect, 18-year-old Shaun Culbreath-Isles, also from Malden, who was found with stolen jewelry and a phone. According to the authorities, the theft was carried out using a black revolver, noted WCVB.
Local resident Emmanuel Ofoarami, thrown into an unwanted adventure, said he "saw three boys" around the getaway vehicle abandoned in his backyard. He admitted to being scared, unaware of their intentions, or how they had slipped into his compound unnoticed by him, according to an interview with WCVB.
Beato now faces charges that include armed robbery, malicious destruction of property, and resisting arrest. Meanwhile, Culbreath-Isles faces charges for armed robbery, unlawful firearm possession, and possession of a burglarious tool, among others. After the chase which spanned into the area of a town dump, Beato was eventually apprehended by the police at a Warren Avenue residence in Malden, continued to possess eight stolen checks upon his arrest. Both were arraigned, culminating in this chapter of the case. As cops and detectives continue to sift through evidence, the Randolph community is left to grapple with the shock of violence intruding upon their erstwhile peace, as NBC Boston conveyed Ofoarami's sentiments: "This is always quiet I don't know, it's strange to me," he said.
