In a series of audacious thefts, three teenagers in South Florida have landed behind bars after targeting law enforcement vehicles and making off with a loaded rifle among other gear. Authorities at Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office confirmed the trio's spree, which saw them break into vehicles and plot high-stakes burglaries across the region.

Specifically, a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office vehicle fell victim to the youthful bandits on April 23, at around half past six in the evening, with an armed weapon being among the pilfered items. After their illicit heist, the suspects took off in a stolen 2021 Chevrolet Corvette, leading to a pursuit that culminated in a bailout and the apprehension of two juvenile suspects, as CBS12 reported. The minors were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, facing charges related to vehicle theft and evasion.

According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, the teenagers, two aged 15 and one aged 13, were also recorded via dashboard-camera committing other crimes. This included the burglary of a Delray Beach Police Department marked vehicle and conspiring to break into a Fort Lauderdale Police Department vehicle and another Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office cruiser to pilfer weaponry, detailed in a statement obtained by WPTV.

All items taken from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle were recovered, including the stolen loaded rifle. Shedding light on the investigation's progression, Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, noted that the Corvette served as a pivotal link. After recovering and searching the sports car, "a third juvenile suspect was identified," who was eventually apprehended on May 14, Barbera told WPTV. Law enforcement say the suspects are currently detained as they await further proceedings.
