A hailstorm of bullets terrorized a Miami Gardens neighborhood over the holiday weekend, in an outbreak of violence captured on surveillance footage. As reported by NBC Miami, the wild shootout took place on the driveway of a home located on the 3300 block of NW 202 Terrace, where the video shows an individual recklessly opening fire for nearly half a minute.
Local residents, still reeling from the event, told NBC Miami that they heard what sounded to be like at least 50 gunshots ring out early Saturday evening. One neighbor, choosing to remain unnamed, described the chaos by saying, "The bullets were flying. And when I say flying they were flying.” In the grip of fear, another resident recalled urging her son to "go down! Go down! Lay down!" during the shootout.
The aftermath, as captured on NBC Miami, was stark with bullet holes marking cars and homes, a car parked outside the targeted house left with a shattered front door and bullet-riddled walls. One neighbor recounted collateral damage confirming, "My neighbor’s tire got shot too from all the bullets coming from over there."
While the neighborhood is described by Carolina Hunter, a five-year resident, as "very nice and pleasant," tension has surely to been injected into the once quiet area filled with families and children. "It was a little scary," Hunter said in a statement given to Local 10 News. "We are concerned." With nobody injured, the motive behind the alarming incident remains a mystery, as Miami Gardens Police and detectives vigorously work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the shootout.
Authorities, actively investigating the incident, urge anyone with knowledge about this case or other related events to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477, in hopes to rapidly bring clarity and justice to the shaken community.
