A wild police chase across Miami-Dade County concluded with a dramatic scene as a woman accused of car theft plunged into a Doral lake to evade capture. The pursuit began when officers spotted a Honda Civic that had been reported stolen and was missing its license plate, according to WSVN.

After attempting to flee northbound on the Palmetto Expressway, the woman desperately tried to outswim the law, abandoning her vehicle and jumping into a nearby lake behind Jackson West Medical Center. Authorities were quick to follow, as law enforcement officers and bystanders worked together to hastily bring her to shore and into custody, Local 10 News reported.

The pursuit drew public attention around 2 p.m. along the expressway near Medley and Doral before coming to a close near Northwest 25th Street. The high-speed chase echoed through the thoroughfare, as the stolen Civic weaved dangerously through traffic before reaching the lake's edge.

Attempting to escape, the driver seemingly hoped to find refuge in the water but was met instead by a determined response from police. In a tactical move, officers deployed buoys, positioning themselves strategically to ensure she could not successfully continue her escape, noted by WSVN.
