Antioch was shaken by two shootings within hours of each other, leaving one teenager dead and another person critically injured.
The Metro Nashville Police Department was called to the scene of the first incident around 10:00 P.M. Saturday on Hickory Woods Drive, where 19-year-old Justin Gomez was found shot to death. NewsChannel 5 reported that Gomez had told his family he was going to meet someone at the park before he was killed. Following the tragic event, Gomez's family is actively seeking justice and has called for anyone with information to step forward.
In a separate incident, occurring just hours after Gomez's death, police responded to a shooting at Cascade Apartments off Murfreesboro Pike. According to NewsChannel 5, the victim, a 25-year-old whose name has not been released, was transported to the hospital in critical condition, however, is likely to survive the ordeal.
Authorities are treating the killing of Gomez as "an apparent targeted shooting," as noted by WKRN. The MNPD have disclosed that they are following up on active leads, and have implored the public to aid their investigation by contacting Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463 should they have any information.
WSMV echoed this appeal, reiterating the police's request for the public's help in solving these cases, to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. No suspects have been named in either shooting and the investigations remain ongoing.
