The man accused in a horrific attack that left an 11-month-old dead and a 2-year-old and their mother severely wounded will face justice this Friday. Stephen Clare, 51, is facing charges of capital murder in the death of his daughter Willow Clare, according to KENS 5. In the same brutal April 2023 attack, which happened on Robinhood Place near Alamo Heights, Clare also allegedly stabbed his other daughter, Rosalie, who was 2 years old at the time, and shot Mariah Gardner, the children's mother, multiple times.
This week's court appearance for Clare is set for a discovery hearing, a critical juncture where the defense and prosecution are expected to openly share information ahead of the forthcoming trial. While the actual trial date has yet to be announced in the 437th District Court, the preparation for the trial is clearly moving forward, with pre-trial motions hearings already slated for mid-June and August.
The case has taken a grim turn as Bexar County prosecutors have decided to seek the death penalty. District Attorney Joe Gonzales, representing the State of Texas, officially filed this notice back in February.
