A nearly two-year battle for life came to an end as Dru’Niyyia Griffin, the victim of a Mother’s Day drive-by shooting in 2022, died from her injuries, WSVN reported. Griffin was 20 when she was gunned down in her vehicle outside a residence in an unincorporated area near Fort Lauderdale. She passed away this Tuesday, two years after the incident which had left her paralyzed and critically wounded.
The Broward Sheriff's Office continues its hunt for the perpetrator, with detectives turning their focus to a dark SUV that was seen unleashing a hail of gunfire on Griffin's parked car. Sitting with a male companion, found with multiple gunshot wounds in her black Honda Accord's driver’s seat, Griffin became an emblem of the ceaseless violence plaguing our streets, NBC Miami reported. The male victim survived the assault after being treated and released from the hospital.
The shooting that claimed Griffin's mobility and eventually her life occurred on the night of May 8, 2022. It now paints a grim anniversary for her loved ones as she succumbed to her injuries just short of two years to the day.
To expedite the apprehension of the person responsible for this brutal attack, a reward of up to $5,000 has been offered.
