Wisconsin Dells Unveils 'The Rise of Icarus,' America's Tallest Waterslide Near ChicagoSource: Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park

This weekend marks the grand opening of America's newest record-breaking attraction, The Rise of Icarus, which now stands as the country’s tallest waterslide. Just a splash away from Chicago, in the heart of the Wisconsin Dells, The Rise of Icarus is all set to skyrocket the excitement levels at Mount Olympus Water and Theme Park.

To formally kick off what promises to be an adrenaline-fueled Memorial Day weekend, park enthusiasts are gearing up to quickly descend the 145-foot-tall marvel of engineering. "We just wanted to make sure we brought the most thrilling thing to the Wisconsin Dells and Mount Olympus," Director of Marketing Fofo Backhaus told FOX47 in a move to up the ante in the "Waterpark Capital of the World."

The towering structure features a quintet of body slides that were put through their paces this past Wednesday and have passed the splash test with flying colors. Described by the park as "America's Tallest," The Rise of Icarus has enthralled the staff, with an employee recounting to FOX47, "I love it. It's the best slide I've ever been on."

Complemented by a splash pad and a kid's slide positioned conveniently below, set to open this July, the waterslide is a calculated addition to the park's repertoire as part of an $8 million park expansion. "Here at Mt. Olympus you’ll experience a much happier ending at the bottom of the slides!" reads the park's statement obtained by NBC Chicago.
