Early this morning, a woman was wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting on the west side of San Antonio. The incident occurred around 2:37 a.m. in the 1500 block of Calle Valencia, not far from Castroville Road. Police arrived to find a woman in her 20s suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg, as reported by KENS 5.
The victim was on her front porch with family and friends when the shots were fired from a passing vehicle, witnesses said. While SAPD has not provided a detailed description of the suspect or the vehicle, they located five shell casings on the street, indicating the severity of the incident. The woman was promptly transported to University Hospital for treatment.
KSAT 12 adds that the woman is expected to recover from her injuries. The lack of a suspect or vehicle description leaves the community on edge, and as of now, the motive behind the shooting remains unknown. San Antonio Police, along with the Fire Department and EMS, responded to the emergency call and have since launched an investigation into the attack.
Authorities continue to investigate the crime scene, gathering evidence and statements from potential witnesses. The San Antonio Police Department urges anyone with information to come forward as the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. The neighborhood, rattled by this sudden violence, awaits answers while a woman begins the long road to recovery.
