
A violent altercation on Sunderland Road yesterday afternoon left a 30-year-old man with serious injuries and a juvenile in custody. According to the Worcester Police, the incident escalated to a stabbing, prompting a swift response from WPD officers, who were called to the scene at approximately 1:00 pm.
Officers arriving at the scene quickly tended to the victim who had sustained multiple stab wounds. Amid an immediate surge to control the situation, they transported him to the hospital where he is now being treated for serious injuries. In the moments that followed, detectives worked to piece together the narrative that would soon to lead them to a young suspect.
According to a police statement, the suspect was apprehended after briefly attempting to flee on foot which concluded in the Green Street area. The juvenile reportedly resorted to violence upon arrest, allegedly kicking at officers as they executed the detainment. The officers found a large kitchen knife on the suspect, which has been identified as the alleged weapon used in the assault.
The juvenile now faces multiple charges, including A&B on a police officer, A&B DW, Aggravated with Serious Bodily Injury, Armed Assaulted to Murder, Disorderly Conduct, and Disturbing the Peace.
