A late-evening incident has led to the arrest of a 20-year-old panhandler accused of commandeering a vehicle from a Good Samaritan. This occurrence took place near the corner of N Zarzamora and Menchaca Street in San Antonio. When an attempt was made to render aid to a panhandler, the vehicle owner was instead met with violence and theft.
According to the FOX San Antonio report, it was on the night of June 7 that Jesse Cardoza violently assaulted the man who had stopped to quickly offer monetary assistance. Cardoza then absconded with the man's car, prompting an urgent police response. He was later found by the San Antonio Police and detained the same night.
Furthemore, details emerging from a News 4 San Antonio article confirm that the incident transpired at approximately 10:14 p.m. Despite the harrowing experience for the victim, law enforcement officers managed to quickly recover the stolen vehicle and apprehend the suspect.
The San Antonio Police Department revealed that Cardoza now faces multiple significant charges, including robbery. Apart from the robbery, aggravated assault on an officer is amongst the charges he could possibly face longer, pending the investigation's outcome.
