Brooklyn Park marks its annual Recycling Week on June 17-21, an initiative promoting environmental stewardship among its residents. City offices will shutter their doors Wednesday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, yet, as per an official statement from the city, recycling collection schedules shall persist unaffected.
With collection crews set to begin their routes at the crack of dawn, residents are reminded to place their carts curbside by 6:30 A.M. These workers work tirelessly until 6:00 p.m. to clear the streets of recyclables. Homeowners should position their carts with a three-foot berth from obstacles such as neighboring carts, a discreet mailbox, or any other objects. Moreover, for efficiency's sake and to adhere to city regulations, carts should rest on the driveway or grassy boulevard, never in the street, with handles facing outwards, away from the concrete vein of the city.
To simplify this yearly endeavor and to facilitate smoother recycling practices, Brooklyn Park has rolled out the Brooklyn Park HRG Recycling app. Residents short on time or those seeking confirmation on the recyclability of an item can find solace in this tool, now available in languages that span the borough's diverse linguistic tapestry—from English and Spanish to French, Russian, and Vietnamese. The app, complete with reminders and service alerts, can be downloaded here.
